Jamine L. Shechter, MD, FACS
Jamine L. Shechter, MD, FACS joined the practice in
1992. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from Haverford
College. She received her medical degree from the University of
Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She completed her ophthalmology
residency training at the Scheie Eye Institute of the University
of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Jamine L. Shechter, MD, FACS is Board Certified in Ophthalmology
and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the
American College of Surgeons. She is a member of the Pennsylvania
Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and
Refractive Surgeons. She is on the staff at Phoenixville Hospital
and Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. She served as Chief of Ophthalmology
at Phoenixville Hospital from 2000 to 2010 and is associated with
Scheie Eye Institute
In 2010 Dr. Shechter was named one of the Top Doctors on the Main
Line by Main Line Today Magazine.
Jamine L. Shechter, MD, FACS specializes in eye surgery. She also
treats all medical eye diseases and performs comprehensive eye exams
for children and adults. Her surgical expertise includes small incision
phacoemulsification cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation,
glaucoma surgery, eye muscle surgery, and laser procedures.
Jamine L. Shechter, MD, FACS performs many different
eye operations, usually on an outpatient basis at the brand new
Physicians Care Surgical Hospital and at Phoenixville Hospital's
Surgery Center at Limerick. They both provide state-of-the-art
technology for cataract and laser surgery. Dr. Shechter is one of
the founding partners of Physicians Care Surgical Hospital. The
most common operations are small incision phacoemulsification cataract
surgery with intraocular lens implantation, laser surgery, glaucoma
surgery, eye muscle surgery, correction of eyelid deformities, and
removal of growths on or around the eye.
Jamine L. Shechter, MD, FACS always performs the initial postoperative
care on her surgical patients. In addition, she works with optometrists
in the community to ensure continuity of care for the patient after
surgery.
Our office is affiliated with several refractive surgical
centers for laser vision correction to reduce or eliminate dependence
on glasses or contact lenses. Patients can have their pre and post
operative care in our office.
Jamine L. Shechter, MD, FACS is married to Dr. Daniel Sterman,
an Associate Professor of Interventional Pulmonology and Thoracic
Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. They
have a son, Andrew and twins Grant and Caroline. An avid sports
fan, in 2010 she was named to the Fan Advisory Board of the Philadelphia
Eagles.
