Latisse
Latisse is a new, FDA-approved prescription treatment
for growing eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker. After
2 months of nightly use, the effectiveness of Latisse was shown
in a clinical trial.
Patients with a history of glaucoma or eye pressure
problems must consult their eye doctor prior to starting Latisse.
Patients with prior intraocular inflammation or infection also need
to consult their eye doctor. At Phoenixville Eye Care Specialists,
we require a baseline eye exam to insure the health of the eye prior
to prescribing Latisse. This insures your safety as a patient.
The most common side effect from Latisse was eye itching
or redness. Skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness and redness
of the lids can also occur. If you develop a new eye condition (such
as eye trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in vision,
have eye surgery or develop any eye reactions, particularly an infection
and eyelid reactions while using Latisse, you should immediately
call your doctor.
Latisse goes on the upper lashes at nighttime. Contact
lens wearers can use Latisse as long as they put their lenses in
15 minutes after using Latisse. Your lashes will return to their
previous appearance over several weeks if you stop Latisse.
Though Latisse is a medication approved by the FDA,
it is not typically covered by insurance or prescription plans.
